Opened it’s 2nd store in the city.

In 2024, Hatch assisted Bewliehill in bringing their seasonal ‘farm to fork’ menu to the City by opening a location just two minutes from Liverpool Street Station.

Background

Angus had always dreamed of opening his own restaurant. Drawing inspiration from his time working in kitchens in Sydney, he decided to bring a healthy, fast-food concept to London in 2021. His vision was to offer seasonal salad bowls, specialty coffee, smoothies, breakfast items, and pastries for takeaway, delivery, and dine-in.

With the support of Hatch, Angus turned this dream into reality, opening their first location in Islington in 2022. Two years and one rebrand later, Angus returned to Hatch to help find a second store, within 2 miles of the original.

What we did?

Angus signed up for our Property Alert tool and began receiving daily summaries of the latest retail and restaurant properties to hit the market each day. Within weeks he had several good opportunities to look at. We then helped Angus put together a landlord pack designed to help Bewliehill get to the front of the queue when making an offer.   

A new unit on Devonshire Row was proposed to Angus and he subsequently booked in to view the property. There was a steady stream of footfall driven from people cutting through from Bishopsgate to Devonshire Square. The unit itself had glazed frontage on three sides with 2 shops front making it extremely visible to passersby.

Hatch helped Bewliehill in making an offer and negotiating lease terms.

The Outcome

Bewliehill were able to agree a new 10 year lease with a tenant break at year 5 giving them an early exit option. The landlord contributed £50,000 towards their shop fit out and granted 3 months rent free – a very competitive deal.

In August 2024, Bewleihill launched their second store and people came flocking. Off the back of its success Bewliehill have since opened a central kitchen in Hackney and now thinking about a 3rd site in the West End.

Having spent months using Loopnet and other similar websites, we couldn't find anything suitable. Hatch connected us with lots of great options within weeks.
