Joint sole expert

« Back to Glossary Index

Joint sole expert is an expert witness appointed jointly by the parties or the court to reduce the cost
of litigation by removing the ability of each party to appoint its own expert. The joint sole expert
reports to the court and may be questioned by each party. Apart from the saving in costs the main
advantage is the removal of the adversarial approach taken by some expert witnesses appointed by
parties.
